Prayer is ๐Ÿ”‘

One of my favorite things to do

09 Mar 2016

One of my favorite things to do during the Summer is go to the beach. I couldn’t tell you how many times Iโ€™ve been skim-boarding or swimming, and not realize that I was slowly moving further and further away from where I started. I never intended to, it just naturally happened, and it wasn’t until Iโ€™d go to find my chair when I realize how far I actually drifted. Itโ€™s funny to think about, but the Christian life can be a lot like swimming at the beach. Many times you start off right, but if you arenโ€™t intentional about staying aligned with Christ you will drift away from the life He has for you.

Paul talks about this to the Romans when he says โ€œDonโ€™t become so well-adjusted to your culture that you fit into it without even thinking. Instead, fix your attention on God. Youโ€™ll be changed from the inside out. Readily recognize what he wants from you, and quickly respond to it.โ€ (Rom 12.2 MSG). The reality is you are either aligning yourself with culture or you are aligning yourself with Christ. This will not be a one-time event either. You have to renew your mind every single day. This must become a lifestyle.

Here is one way to keep yourself aligned with God:

“And whatever you ask in My name, that will I do, that the Father may be glorified in the Son. “If you ask Me anything in My name, I will do it. โ€”John 14:13-14

โ€œTo be a Christian without prayer is no more possible than to be alive without breathing.โ€ โ€“Martin Luther

Prayer is sharing your heart with the one who truly cares about what you have to say. Jesus does not judge you, fault you, or push you away; instead He promises that as โ€œyou draw near to him, He will draw near to you.โ€ Simply talk to Him – He is listening.
